The Personal Care Services (PCS) program is an in-home care service that allows family members to care for elderly loved ones or those with disabilities who require assistance with activities of daily living. This includes daily tasks like hygiene needs, housekeeping, medical care, and meal prepping.
Also known as the family caregiver support program in Nevada, this type of program is a great way for seniors and individuals with disabilities or serious health concerns to remain in the comfort of their own homes while receiving the care that they need. With the PCS program in Nevada, a personal caregiver can get paid an hourly rate for assisting their loved one.
The Nevada Medicaid personal care services program gives you more control over your caregiving. If you are deemed eligible for this type of care, you can choose a close friend or family member to act as your caregiver, who will then be paid for their assistance.
The caregiver you select will visit your home to assist you with any activities you require help with. Your family caregiver support program in Nevada can include a daily schedule, or your caregiver can visit as needed. After each shift, they will get paid for the care they provide.
Before you can start receiving paid care from a family member, you will need to complete the PCS Nevada application process. Keep in mind that prior to beginning this process, you will need to meet all of the eligibility requirements.
If you do not meet those initial requirements, the State of Nevada will not find you eligible for PCS. Once you do meet these requirements, you can fill out the initial PCS Nevada application.
The first step is getting an assessment. If you pass, you will need to find a fiscal intermediary who can act as a liaison between you and Medicaid for payment of your Nevada in-home support services.
From there, you will be able to choose your caregiver and complete the enrollment process for the family caregiver support program in Nevada.
Before you apply to the program, you will want to find out if you are eligible for it. So, what is PCS program eligibility determined by?
In order to be eligible for the family caregiver support program, Nevada requires that you:
- Have full Nevada Medicaid
- Need ongoing assistance due to a physical condition or health concern
- Need personal health care assistance on a daily basis

Yes, your family member can get paid to be a Nevada caregiver. When you choose the Nevada Medicaid personal care services program, you get to choose who provides your care. Many people choose a close friend or family member who they trust and feel comfortable with.
The only limitation is that spouses or legal guardians cannot be paid to be your caregiver. It must be another family member, such as a child or sibling.
